There is a theory, called the Many Worlds Theory, that suggests our universe is not unique. It theorizes that there are multiple universes in which identical copies of each of us exist, living our lives subject only to the dictates of fate. How we turn out depends on countless random events that shape and mold each copy of us. This story assumes that the Many Worlds Theory is true and that, with Divine assistance, the spirit of one of the characters is able to observe himself in another world.
This character, Lee, is on an important journey home to reunite with June, his soul mate, who he foolishly abandoned years earlier. He has realized the enormity of his mistake and now travels by motorcycle from Monterey to Frederick, Maryland. On the way, he suffers a fatal accident only because he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Had fate allowed him merely three extra seconds, the accident would not have occurred.
Lee’s spirit travels into the mysterious and unknown hereafter where he meets God. He pleads with God to give him those three extra seconds so that he could continue on his journey to Maryland. God reluctantly agrees on the condition that he find his spiritual counterpart in another world and help him know love before death. Lee’s counterpart, Jason, is, in reality, himself except that fate had created a difference life experience and outcome.
