Review by Janna Mashburn

What lengths are you willing to go to find truth, justice and revenge?

In a world where Vampires, mages and werewolves live among humans hidden in plain sight, Natalie, Lilith and Jeremy fight to find the truth, gain justice and seek revenge.

Natalie was one of my favorite heroines in this book. The story begins with her leaving the Air Force after four years active duty to pursue her dream to become a criminal investigator from the University of Nebraska. In her final semester, she receives an assignment to solve an unresolved murder. She meets a classmate Jeremy who is about to introduce her to a world she never believed existed. Unbeknownst to Natalie, Jeremy is a Vampire. Jeremy is a loner, sleeping by day, roaming by night. He takes cl***** at the University to pass the time, until he meets Natalie. The romantic angst is compelling as they both work furtively together to solve the unresolved murder.

Lilith is the other heroine in this book that I really enjoyed. At the age of twelve, she was desperate to escape her life from a mother who didn’t care and an alcoholic stepfather. She was on her way to California to find a better life. Her life took an unexpected turn, and she never reached her destination.

This is a thriller in many ways. Each character is carefully developed throughout the book. Jeremy’s history is revealed, Natalie and Lilith embark on their personal vendettas, and the truth about what actually happened resulting in the unresolved murder is exposed. The female heroines were my favorite, both possessing inner strength of a determined survivor. This story was fast paced from the prologue to the last sentence. The story is suspenseful and very entertaining. The ending provides enough closure, yet sets the stage for a sequel.
